Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Letter of the Day - Our society is deteriorating
The Editor, Sir: I struggle to begin this letter. Fear and grief threaten to stifle my voice and halt this process. But with a heavy heart, I must consider a young boy and girl, a brother and his sister found dead in their grandmother's car trunk; a young girl raped and left dead and naked in one of Westmoreland's fields...

Tackling the crime problem

The Editor, Sir: Jamaica is a class-prejudiced country and its divide is getting increasingly serious and dangerous each day. Every government that Jamaica has had for the past 49 years has failed to attack the crime issue in a very serious way.

Sources of violence

The Editor, Sir: The extremely high murder rate in our country is a source of great and continued concern to us. The most recent episodes of abuse and murder of children are particularly abhorrent, and the attendant public outcry is understandable.
