  • Digicel beat Jamalco in Best Dressed KO

    Digicel defeated Jamalco by 20 runs in the Best Dressed Chicken KO 30 over Business House competition at Jamalco last Sunday.

    Batting first, Digicel made 148 for seven off their allotted 30 overs, thanks to a top score of 50 from the former Jamaica Under-19 player Jowayne Robinson, supported by Domain Wilson with 21. Hopeton Shand took 3-11 and Fitzroy Beaumont 2-11. Jamalco replied with 129 all out off 28 overs (Dwight Stewart 28, Dewayne Mahabeer 21; Ian Dewar taking 3-24, Wilson 2-8, Robinson 2-13).

    AT KAISER: St Ann Jamaica Bauxite defeated Windalco by five wickets. Windalco 121 all out off 28.2 overs (Peter Pottinger 20, Barrington Chambers 18; former Jamaica left-arm spinner Andre Dwyer 5-19, Junior Broomfield 2-16). St Ann Jamaica Bauxite 122 for five in 18.2 overs (Orville Pennant, the former Jamaica player, 46, Rupert Brown 32; Fabian Ranger 2-22, Herman Edwards 2-30).

    Only one match in the Business House Cricket Board 35-over competition is scheduled for today. Windalco are up against Jamaica Broilers at Port Esquivel starting at noon.

  • Inter-Bank football

    Leaders Scotia Bank face Guardian Life as action continues today in the 2008 Western Sports sponsored-Norman Goodison Inter-Bank football league at the NWC playing field. Match time is 2 p.m.

    In other matches, BOJ take on JNBS at 4 p.m., also at NWC playing field, while RBTT tackle NCB at 3 p.m. at the Old Men's hockey field.

    Scotia Bank lead the standings with seven points from three matches, ahead of RBTT (six), NCB and JNBS (five each).

    Meanwhile in last weekend's action, Clint Reid scored a hat-trick for BOJ, but could not stop his team from losing 5-4 to Scotiabank.

    In matches played at the NWC playing field, defending champions NCB and JNBS played to a 1-1 draw.

    Newcomers Guardian Life put up a gallant fight, but lost their third straight game as RBTT defeated them 3-2 in a closely-contested match.

  • Tank-Weld beaten in five-a-side football

    Defending champions Tank-Weld Metals, G4S, Geon Contractors and Jamaica Broilers all qualified for the Division One semi-finals of the 2008 Tank-Weld/Ciclon five-a-side Business House football league, this after the playing of the final quarter-final matches on Thursday at the NWC playing field, Mona. G4S handed Tank-Weld their first defeat of the season by clipping them 2-1 to top zone one of Division One. Tank-Weld Metals had not lost a match since August of 2007.

    Division One's leading goalscorer, Eric Williams, gave G4S the lead in the 10th minute and Damion Ellington made it 2-0 in the 18th. However, Jermaine Gray pulled back a goal for Tank-Weld in the 32nd minute from the penalty spot. G4S topped the zone on four points, one more than Tank-Weld Metals.

    Zone Two was won by Geon Contractors despite losing 1-0 to second-placed Jamaica Broilers for whom Jason Grant got the winner. Both ended on three points along with Universal Windows who finished third with an inferior goal difference.

    With one round of matches to be completed in Division Two, the four semi-finalists were also decided last Thursday.

    Cable Pro Data Services, Scotia Bank Group, Blue Cross Of Jamaica and Courts Distributors all qualified and are promoted to Division One for next season.

    Cable Pro Data Services defeated Sagicor 4-1 with Kemar Grant scoring a hat-trick. Scotia Bank Group defeated Passport Immigration & Citizens 2-1 with Nicholas McCreath and Donovan Hibbert scoring the goals. Scotia Bank are the only undefeated team in the competition after playing 17 matches in both the league and knockout competitions.

    They are followed by Hilton Kingston hotel, Sagicor and Seprod, all on four points. In zone two, Blue Cross and Courts Distributors are leaders on ten points. A brace from Dwayne McTaggert carried Blue Cross to a 3-1 victory over Island Grill, while Courts Distributors clipped Tyre Warehouse 2-1 with Locksley Thompson scoring twice for Courts. UDC and Tyre Warehouse are third and fourth on four points each.

    The semi-finals in both divisions will be played on Thursday, October 16. The final round of quarter-final matches will be played tomorrow at the same venue, starting at 6 p.m.

  • Third round of five-a-side KO Thursday

    Defending champions Tank-Weld Metals will oppose arch-rivals G4S in the feature match of the Business House five-a-side KO football competition on Thursday at the NWC playing field, Mona, as the last 16 of the 64 teams in the competition seek places in the quarter-finals. This match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

    Other 6 o'clock matches scheduled for Thursday at the same venue are National Continental Corporation vs UDC, Geon Contractors vs Seprod and Courts Distributors vs Locker Room/Fence Masters. The four matches scheduled to start at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday are unbeaten Scotia Bank Group vs TGIS, Grace Foods vs JIO, Cable Pro Data Services vs Peak Bottling and Island Grill vs BOJ.

  • General Accident crush JCF 'A' in Super League

    Unbeaten defending champions General Accident made it nine in a row in the Business House Netball Association Locker Room Sports/Super League when they trounced JCF 'A' 67-12 at the Leila Robinson Court last Tuesday.

    With former and present national players Oberon Pitterson, Nadine Bryan, Margaret Byfield and Margaret Lawrence at their disposal, General Accident won with a minimum of fuss.

    On Saturday, September 27, General Accident beat Jamaica Broilers 55-28 in Super League Action, with goal shooter Lawrence sending down 26 goals. Lovena Parnell got 22 for Broilers. The Winston Nevers-coached Scotia Bank 'A', having lost their only match against General Accident three weeks ago - going under by only one point (47-46) in a thrilling encounter, are second in the standings with Jamaica Broilers third.

    In Senior 'B' League action last Tuesday, JPS clipped leaders HEART Trust/NTA 36-32 to be joint second with RBTT. ATL defeated Courts 33-29 in the lone Intermediate 'A' match played last Tuesday, while Pan Caribbean beat Supreme Ventures 16-11 in the Junior League. JCF 'A' edged NCB 'A' 41-40 in an exciting Super League match on September 27 at the Leila Robinson Courts to remain in contention for a semi-final spot.
